Change - Becoming: The Flow of the Soul

According to Carl Gustav Jung, Change is a Psychological Necessity

For Jung, the psyche is a living, dynamic system, naturally oriented toward growth and transformation.

When we remain stuck, identified only with our habitual identity, something within us becomes rigid and leads us to lose our balance: this is where symptoms arise.

Jung views crises as moments of rupture that signal the need for transformation. Obstacles are seen as opportunities.

A Symptom is the Psyche’s Attempt to Restore Balance

In general, every symptom, every illness—whether on a physical or psychological level—manifests through a state of congestion, rigidity, stagnation, a blockage in the flow of energy; every ailment brings a certain fixity, an excess of tension, an excess of repetitiveness, and an imbalance in the relationship between the polarities inherent in the psyche and the body.

Hidden contents—shadows, repressed parts, and unexpressed potentials—demand recognition.

Change occurs when consciousness expands, integrating what was once excluded. If this fails to happen, the unconscious continues to communicate through symptoms or projections.

What, then, fosters healing?

The concept of health is connected to that of flexibility: the more one is able to adapt to the changing circumstances of life, both internal and external, the less one suffers.

What promotes healing is the ability to move fluidly from one position to another, avoiding the crystallization of inadequate mental attitudes, and opening to new ways of being.

This transformation happens when the Ego shifts its perspective, truly listening to the "Other" and perceiving life from a broader perspective.

The creation of bridges is in itself a therapeutic act.

Healing, or even a simpler transformation, usually coincides with an expansion of awareness, with a widening of boundaries, and with the ability to perceive things from multiple perspectives.

Change is how the psyche renews itself and it’s a necessary transition: shedding old identifications and rigid roles to face the Shadow, the unexplored parts of oneself and one's unexpressed potential.

Although it can be difficult, it is a creative process that restores inner balance and brings one closer to one’s true authenticity.
